 Comparison of Road Structural Layers For High Volume Roads

 

This is the overall comparison of our road structural layers with the conventional structural layers. Instead of constructing the 3 granular layers for the roadbase we replace it with our GTechCon Base Layer which will be 300mm lesser in comparison to the conventional method. We also replace the binder course and the wearing course with our own GTechCon binder course with grouting. Therefore with GTechCon Road System we will be looking at significant cost saving of about 30% comparing to the conventional road system while achieving the same structural strength.

GTechCon Road System is able to cater for high volume roads because of its special technology that enables it to construct GTechCon Base Layer up till 500mm in thickness, which possess the same load bearing capacity as asphalt pavement. However, GTechCon Road System is far more cost effective and faster to construct. Only minimal maintenance is required with our road system compare to the conventional roads over the years.

GTechCon Road System is designed to comply with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Our design procedure is based on the cumulative expected load applications during the analysis period. The Consultation Service Department handled the problem of mixed traffic by first adopting 18,000 lb (18-kip @ 80 kN) single-axle load as a standard and then further developing a series of "equivalence factor" for each axle weight group.
